Lonneker (Ov): St. Jacobus de Meerdere (W. te Riele, 1911-1912)

The St. Jacobus de Meerdere was built to replace a smaller church, built in 1820 on the same location. It's a three-aisled cruciform basilica in neo-Gothic style with a centralizing ground-plan. Instead of a conventional tower, it has a square crossing-tower which illuminates the choir. At the front the church only has a polygonal stair-turret. The choir is flanked by lateral chapels on both sides. Like the nave, the transept is three aisles wide.
In 1924 Te Riele built the H.H. Martelaren van Gorcum in Stampersgat (NB), which is almost identical to this church.
